YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR…?

May 22nd, 2009

The car transport business has been (excuse the expression) “a work in progress”.  I have mentioned that I have been in the business for over 30 years.  I have always asked customers to know that they get what they pay for.  Every customer wants three things - speed, quality and price.  In the car transport business, you can only get TWO.  You have to realize that something has to be sacrified.  To honestly handle any transaction, something has to give.  Speed costs more, quality costs more and price will get you speed & quality.  I try to explain every aspect of a move.  I don’t tell you what you want to hear to get an order.  I tell you what you need to know and I ask for the order.  Low pricing will get you many moves.  Low pricing means that I have to offer trucking companies less money for their work.  Building a relationship wih a trucking company can be time consuming.  You have to build their trust in you and your trust in them.  I have shipped cars of my own and because of the strong working relationships I have developed over the years - I don’t worry.  I try to handle the movement of your car the same way I would want my car handled.  I don’t ever want to “hope” it gets to you on time and without incident.  I depend on your referrals.  You are my best advertisers.  When you ask about how a car move went, you usually hear only the bad ones - not many times do you hear “it was great - just what I wanted”.  We strive have 100% satisfaction rate but I can assure you - we will never ever please everyone (no matter how much effort goes into it).

The next time you try to set up a car move.  Call a company and get a person, not an email (they are pretty and timely but some are triggered by a request for a quote.  People to people is the true test.  Did I get all my questions answered?, do I feel assured that I’ll get what I requested?, If I call back can I ask more questions?, Can I call and ask where my car is?.  Just some ideas, if you have any others - call us.  We want you as a customer and we want your friends and your business associates as customers.  We give you what you pay for but only after you are fully informed.

Call us, see how customer service really does work.

Integrity & logic - You there?

August 16th, 2008

We are all touched by the increase in fuel prices. Truckers are paying more than double what they were paying about a year ago. I have been shipping cars since the gas shortages in the middle seventies and early eighties. It was easier to move a car than than it is now. I have truckers calling me and telling me that they have to have more money. I try give prices but not to etch them in stone, you never know. I try to treat my customers like I would like to be treated - logically and fairly. To hear continuous lies is disheartening but a fact many times. We used to do business with the shake of hands - a man’s word was his bond. I never want to choose a carrier because I think they’ll do a good job. I want to know - references, customer comments, every bit of information helps. I am taking your car - think you’d ever give your car to someone (and some money) and hope it gets to where its going? My thirty two years doesn’t exclude me from BS but it gives me the ability to be a pretty good judge of character. I want you to get your car on time and in the same shape it left. I want you to tell about your real good job not the horror show that you encountered. People only remember the bad jobs and they let others know about it. I wish that people would pass on the good stories too. The good moves far outweight the bad moves. I wouldn’t have been doing this for 32 years if that were not true. I will write more, this was my first attempt - not long enough but plenty of rambling. I want your work. I want you to tell your friends and co-workers of your experience with Fisher Shipping Company - we really do care about your move. I’ll talk to you again soon. Whatever you’d like to discuss….
